We have just started learning about forces and magnets as part of our Science in Year 3. To assist the children in their learning of forces we decided to take a visit to Handsworth Park as a whole year group and explore the play equipment and whilst assessing what forces are in action whilst we're using them. It was a fantastic afternoon and certainly helped kickstart the children's understanding of forces.
Year 3 have been learning about different types of rocks. Granular, crystallised and fossilised. We looked at the formation of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The children were given an assortment of rocks and were asked to group the rocks according to their appearance. We then sorted the rocks correctly and the children were excited to see if their predictions were correct.
What a great way to kick start your FORCES Science topic in Year 3.It's great that you also got some exercise along the way!x
