To kickstart our Science topic, Year 3 took a journey throughout the school buildings and grounds to see where we could find different rocks and identify their uses. We talked thoroughly about the properties of rocks and discussed how the properties affected the use of the rocks. Continuing on using our knowledge of properties, we used a Carroll diagram to sort rocks based on their properties.
Year 3 have been studying instruction texts and as part of the process we made some Stone Age stewed fruit using a selection of fruits, hazelnut and honey as an added sweetener. The process not only allowed the children to get stuck in practically but also informed their own writing of instructions following the making of the fruit stew.
