In Science sessions recently, we have been looking at soil; how it is made and where it comes from.
This week, we made our own edible soil using different ingredients to represent the horizons
(oreo cookie = bedrock, crumbled cookie = parent rock, vanilla custard = subsoil, chocolate custard = topsoil and humus = chocolate worms and chocolate sprinkles)
… and then finally we labelled them with their scientific names.
I think the children enjoyed them! What do you think?

What did the children think about the taste? Was the soil indeed edible?x
