Y3 Palaentology!

Year 3 have been learning all about rocks and fossils in Science. Over the past few weeks, Y3 have explored fossilisation and the meticulous work of palaeontologists. A couple of weeks ago, the children made their own fossils using different shells.  This week, they became palaeontologists themselves, carefully excavating their fossils and using key vocabulary to explain their findings.  What a fantastic science lesson we had!

Year 3 Vulgur Vesuvius assembly

A week ago, Year 3 performed their magnificent "Vulgar Vesuvius" assembly to the rest of the school and to their parents - It was an extravaganza of dance, song and some wonderful acting.   Combining the story of Tranio and Livia, (the only two survivors in the story we have been looking at "Escape from Pompeii") told with a modern twist on what should have happened that fateful day in August AD79... if the citizens all had TVs and the power of knowledge of course!
